You need to take a test and pass it to drive a car. Why don't we need to take tests and pass them in order to VOTE?

We have a sea of idiots deciding what is what in this country.  It's sickening.  Something's gotta give here.

Yeah...at LEAST an English reading and writing test. Hmm...a sea of idiots voting for a large school of morons. How ironic.

Well, my idea is never going to really fly, but it would be great if we could instill a little more consideration for the quality of our government than learning who Miley Cyrus is dating.

The whole mentality of the world has to change.  I don't see that happening this week.

Let's streamline the process and make just the presidential candidates take and pass the test. If we'd done that, there would be no President Cheeto Benito.

Oh my GOD.  I am so blinded by the forest I did not see the TRUMP tree.

OF COURSE.  OF COURSE.  OF COURSE.

I'm serious.  That is right and?  Let's make them take lie detector tests on what they are going to campaign about doing.

And then?  When they lie?  Let's publicly execute them with the shout YOU'RE FIRED.

Sorry, I guess I went overboard at the end.... that's why I leave the big decisions to YOU.

Lie detector tests aren't likely to work on Cheeto because he believes his own lies. Let's make releasing tax returns mandatory. He would have run off so fast, his orange monkey hair would be left flapping in the breeze.

People don't vote with their IQ, they vote by their personality type. So I guess you would have to give them personality tests and then exclude a large percentage of the population depending on the result you want.

You is twisting my words into the wind here.   I'm not talking IQ.  If your IQ is less than 100 you don't get to vote.  You think that is cruel?  People who have a felony of any type cannot vote ever again.  You can get a felony for selling a joint to someone if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.  So why not?  What is less fair?  A person who doesn't know their A$$ from a hole in the ground or a person who sold weed as a kid?
I agree with your first sentence.  So LET'S EDUCATE them about that and make them aware of this,  and test the results.  When we are AWARE of our behavior, we are able to change that behavior.

Now I am aware that when I said this, visions of Mississippi Bible Belters danced in my head.  Those people cannot be tested.  They cannot be.  They cannot vote.   Sorry, that whole state is a big mistake.  Cancel. Cancel Mississippi.

Only people who can exhibit a rational idea of right and wrong and concepts and the English language and the proclivity to read and study should vote.

No one else gets to.  Or else they must explain their reasoning in some manner that makes me know they are not going to pick Adolph Hitler.  Because of their personality type.

    EVER.

Good idea.  Put it in the suggestion box.  Or maybe you could start a petition.  I'll be the first to sign.

I've had so many relatives tell me "I just vote all Republican or all Democrat. What kind of stupidity is that??? Some people say they go in and look for a name that is "cool", because they really don't follow politics. Then I'll offend EVERYBODY and ask "Why do we have to print everything in several languages????" If you vote in France, you better know French. When in Rome, better know how to be a Roman....it's insanity from the get-go. Just start a campaign to write in names....a two party democracy? hmmmmm I think it's fixed....

That's a GREAT idea.  Every driver on the road knows and follows the traffic laws, uses good judgment, does not drive under the influence or allow anything to distract them all because of the test they pass to get a license.

Lol.... I catch your drift but I shudder to think how much worse the roads would be if licenses weren't required.

Oh no.  Not at all.  But imagine if there were NO licenses. That is the state of our Country with Trump.  A country with people with no clue how to even vote for someone of worth.

If people passed the same kind of test in order vote, they might know the mechanics of voting, but they wouldn't be any smarter about who to vote for.  People elect the government they deserve.

The short answer is that driving is a privilege.  Voting is a right.

I have long held that being that we pay for thirteen years of education for each person, only those who complete high school with a diploma should be allowed to vote  or to sit on a jury.
