It really never bothered me Spunky. Maybe it was a defense mechanism that was automatic but I always felt grateful to be me and not them because I thought they must very unhappy people and I would not trade happy for anything. Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)
I don't tend to smile at strangers anyway, but If I did experience that, I would guess the person is probably in a rush with a lot on their mind, or in a bad mood. How would it make me feel? I don't think I would let it bother me.
We know that Goat, but we love you anyway.
I never regret smiling. Not ever that I can think of. If people choose not to respond I know I tried to brighten up somebody's day with a smile. So I am just grateful I have something to smile about.
Marty Feldman!
don't go changin'... ;)
=)
I don't really ever smile at random people; that's just not what I do.
Ditto SA. I feel happy when I smile so at least I feel good even if the recipient doesm't respond. Feelling good is better than feeling bad any day of the week! Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)
What if we passed each other on the street and I smiled at you Nevan? What would you do? Wouldn't you smile back at me? Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday to you! :)
Oh what big eyes you have m'dear! The better to see me with? Thanks for the photo GJ. It is forever emblazoned on my brain. Happy Tuesday! :) Did anyone ever tell you that you resemble someone famous? Or ARE YOU SOMEONE FAMOUS? Happy Tuesday! :)
It doesn't bother me either except that I'm always grateful I'm not that person because they always seem unhappy to me. But it could just be that they are preoccupied. I hadn't thought of that at all righty! Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! When I'm preoccupied I can look right through people I know and not see them! :(
Happy Tuesday. May your day be filled with smiles galore!
:D :)) ;) :-)
Thank you SA. Apologies for taking so long to get back to you! Happy Thursday! :)
that's nice you took a chance on your boss' secretary. especially since you'd likely see her nearly everyday. she likely only gets to know someone if they make the first effort. good on you. and interesting about the birthdays.
there are two groups of people i do smile at first and happily so, now that really think about it; babies/little children and the elderly. otherwise, i do share smiles with strangers quite often, though, because people do smile or nod hello a lot in the south. it seems as if as soon as i see them, they are offering it up right away. if they don't... i just assume they're like me, and don't initiate that sort of thing naturally.
I'm elderly. 78. So that makes me feel very happy that you would smile at me! Thank you for your reply lq and Happy Wednesday to thee! :) As I've gotten older I'm less shy and do take chances all the time . What do I have to lose? There is a lot to gain. I like the odds! :)
