Can you name a once-popular song that now makes you laugh?

This one split my sides. Did people actually listen to this stuff with a straight face?

  • In the 90's we used to listen to "Dance music" sometimes and I remember picking up some older guys for work and I had this song playing in my truck and I remember them laughing at me saying "Is this what you play for girls?" LoL!
Anyway, those songs sounded cool at the time, but I guess they are kinda silly. : )

  • LoL!
I had all kinds of Dance mix CDs and we had big stereos in our trucks with subwoofers that would vibrate the seat.
I liked this song at the time too.
I remember partying and listening to all kinds of music in the 90's, it was fun. : )

  • "LISTEN" is the optimum word here.  If you just listen, it isn't quite as bad.  This (your) song was released in 1978 and the first music video came out at 12:01 am on August 1, 1981.  So, it went to #1, in five countries, before anyone had to watch it.  :))

"Crooning Troubadour" Nick Lucas topped the US charts with "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" in 1929.
In 1968, Tiny Tim's version charted at #17 and became his signature song,

This was the first song that popped into my head Alf.  Even as a kid, it made me laugh the first time I heard it.

  • I'm surprised that you didn't beat me to the punch then. I spent a long time trying to think of a song that was funny and yet charted as a serious piece of music.

The only reason I didn't was because you saw the question before I did.  ;-)

Haha. I actually love this one. My friend had a jukebox in her basement when we were growing up and I played this song endlessly while spinning around in circles.

Even though it is kind of sacrilege I have had the same reaction to early Beatles videos :-))

  • Don't know why I didn't think of this one sooner!  You have to laugh to keep from crying.
