Can you name a once-popular song that now makes you laugh?

This one split my sides. Did people actually listen to this stuff with a straight face?

  • He heard the song before he released it and he did it away!  Now, Miley .... he didn't get to hear until after.  :))

I have always liked elevator music/muzak/easy listening. Something about that style just resounds a good thing to me.
I know -- I'm seemingly in the minority.

This one send me to Total Bliss Land!

LOL Welby.  Sometimes music needs to stay as the soundtrack to a movie and not go wandering off, insinuating itself into the real world. ;-)

It has thankfully insinuated itself into my real world and makes my real world oh-so-better.

I first thought of ABBA when I read your answer, Glis. Would ABBA be a group you don't like? I would assume they would not be a favorite of yours.

Welby, he told me once that he absolutely adores ABBA.  Don't let him fool you with his gruff exterior.  He's a very sentimental kind of guy. As a matter of fact, he said this was his all time favorite song & video.

  • Prolly one of the worst bands of all time IMHO.

"Prolly".  If you say so, who am I to argue?
But before you make your final decree on this subject, I do think you should give this song a listen.  It's very moving.

And, in addition to Harry's entries, here is my favorite ABBA tune, Glis! Ha!

This one is from just 2014 but I laughed out loud the first time I heard it (I thought it was purposely a joke recording) - - from her baby-talk singing of the verses and her high (horrible-to-me) wailing on the chorus - - I still laugh . . . or cringe. And the song is still popular from what I can tell.
It's not so bad to me as it used to be, though. And I do like Sia's strange music videos. The three I've seen have all been filmed in/on what seems to be the same set and maybe the same director.

  • A lot of voice for someone who looks so young!

    Definitely!
She's got a great voice. I just prefer some of her other songs a bit better when she doesn't do quite so much "stuff" with her voice. But, yeah, a strong voice! She does look awfully young in this video from 2014. I have no idea how old she actually is.

  • Born: Dec. 18, 1975 (age 41) ... Wonder when the video was made?  Says ... May 6, 2014.  Makes her thirty-eight.

Thanks, ALF! I do know the song itself was released around 2014 also.
She looks younger to me but I'm not a good "estimater" of age on people. She's a good dancer, too.

I have to go to work now -- I hope to come back to this question and look around a bit closer.

Yes!!! The video makes it twice as bizarre. I have no idea how this one became popular.
