    The gunbarrel weaken and may crack or get warped, reducing accuracy. Worst case would be if bullets in the magazine explode from the heat.

    Thank you for your helpful and informative reply JakobA, I didn't know that. An exploding magazine would not be a good thing for the shooter! :)

    Guns and bullets are made from dissimilar metals, so they expand at different rates. A hot gun often gets jammed.
