Deep breathing, in from the mouth, out through the nose. A hot bath. Some Chamomile tea and honey. Soothing music, like ocean or jungle sounds. Watching a comedy on TV. Coming on here.
Try not to concentrate on breathing, just remember to breath in through the nose, and out through the mouth. Good luck. Hope you feel less anxious soon. ;)
First of all, I don't think medication is a bad thing if you have a diagnosed anxiety disorder. When your body is producing unneeded stress hormones, it's hard to just think them away. That said, getting physically active is one way to use some of that excess adrenaline. I find that using some of the recommended relaxation techniques just keep me focused on the anxiety and doesn't really help.
