Get an oscar. After a while feeding it, we have had some come to the side of the tank when we walk up.

    1.   You are not a fish whisperer

    2.  You don't know what they respond to

    3.  Try "calling" them with food.   They are worse than dogs when it comes to food.  They are voracious eaters.  But if you "call" them too often they will overeat and die.

Mine all died horrible deaths too.  I can't do it anymore.  Too heartbreaking.  Man and fish should not be housed together.

You need a bigger tank. A 55gallon is easy to take care of. Also when setting up you need to leave it empty (no fish) for about a month to get the water right.  The test with a cheap fish.
But little tanks are fish killers. The water messes up to easily.
