  • The first thing you need to know about politics is not to listen to other people's opinions about politics.
Watch the news, try to find an unbiased outlet.
Form your own opinions based on the information that's available regarding current issues and then watch the debates leading up to the election and listen carefully and vote for the candidate that understands the issues and has the experience and qualifications necessary to come up with and implement viable solutions to current problems affecting your country. Go to www.isidewith.com and take the quiz... it will tell you where you fall. If you do it during an election it will match you with the candidate you agree with most.

Well, everyone on this site is completely unbiased, so you can learn a lot just by reading through the Q&A and then watching the pigs that fly past your window.

If you believe that there should be a lot of government programs to help the disadvantaged and regulations to protect the public from unscrupulous business practices, you're a Democrat.  I you think we should live in dog-eat-dog, every man for himself, winner take all free-for-all, you're a Republican.  (In my opinion)

Not caring is passive acceptance of the prevailing trend. Society has been moving left for decades, so if you're not political I'd say you were a passive socialist.

Everyone would be political if they understood how high the stakes are. People have the illusion that nothing they do will make any difference and that everything will be more or less the same forever. This is not true. Within the next 30 years the world is going to go through a massive political revolution. The events we go through are likely to make the drama of the last century look like a picnic. When the dust settles we're going to be living under capitalism, socialism, or fascism. There is no middle ground. You have to chose sides.
