How come people are inspired by paintings or statues? What is so special about them?

Stirs the imagination somehow.  Many people are inspired by imaginary things that don't even exist which provides a good source for fiction writing and other works of art.

I think the just like Still Life paintings .......The say they are very Hard to paint though.....more so the Granite ones.....

We see beauty or structure or coherence in them or they tell us a story or otherwise communicate something desirable to us.  I am fortunate enough to own a number of paintings and prints which bring me daily joy and inspiration.
