Researchers conclude that at roughly 5:32pm tomorrow, Phoenix will begin a rapid descent into darkness...

...and it's expected to remain dark for some time.

Does this worry you?

Nope...the sun will be back in the morning.
I hate moving the clock back in the fall. I think we should just spring forward and leave it forever.

    :)
Interestingly, I worked on a writing project regarding DST over the last two weeks. There's a petition to stop using standard time and use DST year-round. Being in Arizona, we don't do DST, and so I was kind of removed from the whole concept, but as I did my research, there are a lot of benefits to springing forward and staying there- reduced crime, fewer accidents, less depression, more economic activity, and so on. Plus, changing the clocks really messes with people and causes reduced productivity, more accidents, and a ton of economic losses. I think you're spot on with both your assessments. :)

I heard it's going to spread, like a blanket of darkness, and crawl its way across the country. :o

You were correct, it came and went away, but it once again is beginning to approach.

If in fact you are referring to the the geometric zenith distance of the object achieving 90.8333 degrees, it might happen.

But what good does it do to worry? This post was edited by tom jackson at November 5, 2017 12:06 PM MST

You're right. I've read that the musicians on the Titanic continued to play as the ship sunk. Maybe I'll just light a fire and make s'mores while the light gets sucked away.

You're much closer to Phoenix than I am, so I'm not worried at all.

My sources indicate it's an eastwardly-moving phenomenon, bubette. Warn your relatives in Ireland and Poland.
