We all look at things from our own perspective, from our point of view, which is not always, or should not always be, cast in concrete, but should be changeable so as to allow us to benefit from different ideas and to grow. So it depends on our perspective and inclination at the time as to whether or not we consider what we found to be God or experience a sensation like being in the presence of God. If we consider it to be God then how we see this newly discovered God and its impact on our life and understanding will also depend on our perspective and inclination at the time.
" for his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable. for although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their rasonings and their senseless hearts became darkened." (Romans 1:20,21)
