Without mentioning details or plot, what movie do you think has the best ending to it? Or, what movie has your favorite ending?

~ a friend asked me to ask this question

:)

I can't pick just one at the moment. But most endings from some of my favorite movies that pop in my head at the moment seem to be great to me:

George Romero's 1968 original "Night of the Living Dead"

"Citizen Kane"

"Savannah Smiles"

Brian DePalma's "Blow Out"

Well Welby, you know the number one movie for me is Being There.  I just thought it was the best ending of any movie I've ever seen.

I really loved the ending to Citizen Kane and The Third Man, another movie starring Orson Welles, which I'm sure you know.  The rest of the ones you mention I really like as well.   We mentioned Dr. Strangelove on the other question, great ending!  Others I really liked are, the original The Producers,  Psycho, The Swimmer, The Usual Suspects,  The Others, & Cinema Paradiso,   I'm sure there are more but I can't think of any more at the moment.

I've seen some of your choices and some I have not.
    :)

I have a matted and framed large original movie poster from "The Others."

I saw that movie. And I liked it.

(those last lines of "Psycho" . . .  love them.)

Thanks for answering "my" question! This post was edited by WelbyQuentin at December 2, 2017 7:09 PM MST

The movie is somewhat complex for a Disney production. They left out some important facts. Still is a good movie.

    Cool Runnings is great.

I don't know the Replacements.  It sounds very familiar.

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it.  I saw it on Lifetime perhaps 18 - 20 years ago.  One of those weekend reunion films, quite lengthy. The father of the host couple was recently killed in a nearby private plane crash (he visits the site and the wreckage later in the film) - he is 40ish and a psychiatrist and his wife is a bit younger and was his patient.  They are having problems. Old friends including her sister and her boyfriend visit them.  All at the woodsy home of his father.  The girlfriend of the deceased father is still living there. They go to a club where I think a country band is playing. In the climactic scene the woman runs from the car into the snow and admits to her sister that she had an abortion. She leaves her husband at the end of the film and he and the guys talk about going skiing at Tuckerman's Ravine.  I would guess was a 90s indie, set perhaps in Colorado or Canada. Might have been in black and white (I only saw it once) and had sort of a chamber classical music score - woodwinds and a cello perhaps.  Have tried to find out the name for many years without success.

I don't know what the movie is but I like that song.
I'm not going to watch in case I might catch the movie sometimes, ha! This looks like it might be the ending to the movie.

Oh, Welby! It's Love, Actually. It's near the top of almost everyone's favorite Christmas movies of all time. You need to watch it immediately!!

My bit about it being almost Christmas will make you smile when you see the film, too.
