What is a question that is not easy for you to answer?

At Christmas time it is acceptable to use 'fir' because of the widespread use of 'fir' trees. I have lots of fir trees growing wild out back, and it is snowing and the fir trees make good shelter for the birds.

Are you trying to give him an out?  No, when he does it on purpose it is either a pun or it is easily recognizable from the context.  He makes mistakes from time to time, too.

Spruce trees are often found in civilized places, while 'for' trees are usually found on golf courses.

It's all in the for play. 

If your blueberries are green, you need to throw them away in unused plastic bin/bag liners. If someone is already occupying them, send them an eviction notice pronto.
