Yeah! That used to be one of my favorite drinking songs. I never knew the words or the music because, you know, I was always drunk when they played it. Boy, you just can't beat those old drinking songs!
Oh yes would like to talk about music on here but most of the questions about it mention bands and artists I have never heard of. I love symphonic music and instrumental chamber music and some opera and some jazz and I know something about the soul and popular music I liked when I was younger which was oh between the mid 1960s and mid 1980s. So The Monkees, The Rascals, Marvin Gaye, Funkadelic, Kool and the Gang, Ohio Players, Beethoven, Verdi, and Willis Jackson.
you sound a lot like me..........do you like people like Ella, Sarah, Billie, Lena, and so forth? the old 'big bands' sound? do you have any favorite soundtracks? or b'way shows?
this current music is not very interesting........BUT I did like Bruno Mars' "uptown funk' but only for the dance moves........
Well I have a ways to go Ben to catch up with you! We grew up with Broadway show albums like Camelot and My Fair Lady and Fiddler On the Roof. I guess "Ella" would be Ella Fitzgerald who I have heard and remember of course but don't know the others. Do you mean Sarah Brightman? My father used to take business clients to shows and took me to several like Man Of La Mancha and Funny Girl and Hello Dolly and he took me to the old Copacabana night club when I was 12 which is the same one they later made a song about ":At the Copa".I like a lot of old instrumental jazz from the 1960s which I got to like when I was older. We had some older band records like Elgart and Basie but when I was younger mostly I liked stuff my generation listened to like The Monkees and The Rascals and Motown and later soul music. When I became a older I started liking concert music and my husband listens to opera and we go to both concerts and opera some of which we support financially. But I still do listen to records and CDs at home of older jazz I like - Miles Davis and Willis Jackson and Shirley Scott. Guess I don't know a lot about it but I had boyfriends who turned me on to some things and others I would just hear various places and like and later when I couls afford it bought some of the CDs and some LPs I have had fro many years.
