Have you ever had (or currently have) a bad habit that is/was extremely expensive, draining on your finances?

(Before you even think it, tildes are very low-maintenance indulgences.)

    You mean an uncontrollable addiction?

NOPE.  I don't enjoy that kind of lifestyle myself.

Sorry, it is hard to label and post pictures these days.  I can post but I cannot get the typing to fit where it is supposed to fit.

  • "No, not really."  Bowling was my most expensive
habit/hobby and I didn't have a dependent family at the time.

My answer disappeared, so I will post it again. Drinking and smoking...but it is well within my budget.

Yes, I paid rent, not knowing any way to get out of it. I finally found some tricks, and I have only been able to prosper when I was not paying rent, or paying only a fraction of the usual rate.

I now live in a 1BR house that my father built in 1953. My #2 brother owns the property, and he is also retired. My #3 brother had owned the property because the folks were unable to pay the taxes for a while. He tried to give it to me, but I didn't want to be a land owner in California. It's a crime to dig a hole in your own property here.

And that is how I am able to live on the social security dole while piling up thousands of pounds of groceries, giving free books and teddy bears to the neighbor kids, and not knowing what to do with the rest of my money. A while back I bought a gold mine in Alaska and had then mail the ore to me. Last week I bought a queen size bed just because I was bored sleeping on a twin. And a big teddy bear that was on sale.

Wait, you want a place where you can "dig holes" without Big Brother watching, is that it?  Interesting. You know, I'm going to have to decline that dinner invitation you extended to me where you said I was to tell no one and go alone.
