My mother had just bought a new 1950's 'National Home' (a low cost house) when I became critically ill for about a month. She had to sell it to pay my hospital expenses. Therefore, we had to move in with relatives. That was good for me, the relatives had a farm, and I really liked it. It allowed me to expand my life's experiences.

I moved away from the house my husband and I shared at the time of his death. I had too many bad memories of that house. We had not lived there long. So all the memories i had of that house were of the time my husband became ill until his passing. I decided to move to get away from many painful memories.
Before the op, I was hobbling on a stick, addicted to opioid painkillers, couldn't work or drive a car - had to wait several years to get it sorted. Discectomy and lumbar fusion in 2010 - within a fortnight I was off the drugs and running again. Got my life back, save for a little arthritis which I can live with. Getting another job was harder, the company I'd worked for previously had gone belly up in the GFC and it was tough finding an employer willing to take a risk hiring a bloke who'd been medically invalidated out of his last position. Managed it eventually, I'm working now.
