    The sole sweats. The sweat sticks to the sandal. Dust sticks to the sweat. Sweaty dust sticks to the sole but it gets concentrated in certain spots where it begins to feel like a rock. The skin grows a callous to protect itself. The callous feels like a rock even when there is no dust. Wearing sox puts a stop to this sequence, and the feet stay clean and comfortable.
