Not for a very long time. The ongoing standard was, and still is, Scrabble. Other than that, Monopoly and Risk. Some years ago, playing scrabble at a friends house, the game seemed to go on for ever and there seemed to be an awful lot of tiles left over. Late in the day I said we should check the complement of tiles. It turned out there were tiles for three, perhaps four, games. Where did you get these tiles? From a garage sale. And you never counted the tiles? Never before thought I needed to . . .
No matter what the price, I'd always buy Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" when playing "Masterpiece" -- my brother and sister caught on easily to that and I lost many a game because of my fascination with the painting. :)
I still adore it.
