I'm divorced now, but I loved my mother-in-law dearly. Still do. She's an amazing person. We had struggles, same as any, but we came into our own and we both respected the other's position.
Quite well actually.....she didn't know what to make of me when we first met....but warmed to me quite quickly once she realized I was quite harmless and kept me fed and watered....lol
We do alright. She does try to be overbearing at times. My husband is good about handling it when she steps over the line. She always has drama but it is usually with other family members.
My mother in law died back in 1984. At the time of her death she had expressed that she had come to see me as a daughter. I very much appreciated her comment because early on in my marriage she and the rest of the family did not like me because I was not Catholic. With time she came away with a different opinion of me. I too became fond of her.
