Do any Catholics believe the Bible is beneficial for doctrines over Popes and Bishops and Catechisms?

Ok, it looks like non-Catholics are waiting for Catholics to reply, and Catholics are not taking the bait. Either that or we don't have any Catholics here.

Oh, I'm sure that there's some who think that but  don't dare admit it out loud. Tradition runs too deep for some to admit that they think the Bible is more beneficial.

Actually, we Catholics are somewhat amused by those who are not Catholic---or who are outside of Catholicism for whatever reason---and yet still think they know so much about Catholicism that they can still ask us questions that make sense.....

.....Which is probably why you don't get answers.

There are plenty of Catholics who are quite willing to answer, even though what they say does not pass the sniff test. Catholics in general are right up front about everything they believe, such as church tradition being of higher authority than the bible, worshiping images, worshiping Mary, and so on and on. The rest of us just try not to be the first to bring those things into the discussion.

I have had several conversations with Catholics in person and online where they start off talking like they believe in the Bible. As the conversation unfolds, they end up throwing the Bible under the bus and admitting they only accept Church tradition.

(Mark 7:13) Thus you make the word of God invalid by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like this.”
(Put in red so those not used to reading the Bible may realize those are the words of Jesus.)

Honestly Tom, I feel that some say that good is bad and bad is good. Notice the scriptures compared to some teachings.
(Isaiah 5:20, 21) Woe to those who say that good is bad and bad is good, Those who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, Those who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those wise in their own eyes And discreet in their own sight!

Dressing up in prominent robes and promoting religious titles like Father and such:
(Matthew 23:1-14) Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying: 2 “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of Moses. 3 Therefore, all the things they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds, for they say but they do not practice what they say. 4 They bind up heavy loads and put them on the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger. 5 All the works they do, they do to be seen by men, for they broaden the scripture-containing cases that they wear as safeguards and lengthen the fringes of their garments. 6 They like the most prominent place at evening meals and the front seats in the synagogues 7 and the greetings in the marketplaces and to be called Rabbi by men. 8 But you, do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers. 9 Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One. 10 Neither be called leaders, for your Leader is one, the Christ. 11 But the greatest one among you must be your minister. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 13 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you shut up the Kingdom of the heavens before men; for you yourselves do not go in, neither do you permit those on their way in to go in. 14 ——

    Promoting tradition over scripture:
(Mark 7:9-13) Further, he said to them: “You skillfully disregard the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. 10 For example, Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Let the one who speaks abusively of his father or mother be put to death.’ 11 But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or his mother: “Whatever I have that could benefit you is corban (that is, a gift dedicated to God),”’ 12 you no longer let him do a single thing for his father or his mother. 13 Thus you make the word of God invalid by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like this.”

Scriptures are where truth is found, not tradition.
(Acts 17:2) So according to Paul’s custom he went inside to them, and for three sabbaths he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
(Acts 17:10, 11) Immediately by night the brothers sent both Paul and Silas to Be·roeʹa. On arriving, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·niʹca, for they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
(2 Timothy 3:16) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,

Forbidding Priest and Nuns from marrying while Peter himself was married:
(1 Timothy 4:1-3) However, the inspired word clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired statements and teachings of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, whose conscience is seared as with a branding iron. 3 They forbid marriage and command people to abstain from foods that God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth.
(1 Corinthians 9:5) We have the right to be accompanied by a believing wife, as the rest of the apostles and the Lord’s brothers and Ceʹphas, do we not?
(Matthew 8:14) And Jesus, on coming into Peter’s house, saw his mother-in-law lying down and sick with fever.

The Catholic church is known for adhering to traditions as well as suppressing bible truths. Therefore most of its adherents know little to nothing about the bible. Even so, what they do know is ov no significance since they prefer to believe their man made traditions and false doctrines. This post was edited by Autumnleaves at November 14, 2018 11:20 PM MST
