    Yes....my parents own a building company as did my grandparents...they also had a garage..

    Father painted houses as did his father and his father.  My great grandfather did some really high class stuff  as far back as the late 1800s.  In the 60s, I painted the fence around an American President's grave. As my father and uncles painted the estate of that President, my cousin carefully repainted the dollhouse of the Presidential daughter.  Very fine detail.     On my mother's side, no.
    I never met my father's parents, but they were hillbillies and I doubt they were chemists, as my father was.

    No, but brother was supposed to follow dad to be an architect, but he jumped ship to do divinity instead.

    My maternal and paternal grandmothers were both homebodies. My paternal grandfather died in 1923, when my father was quite young, or he would most likely have entered the business - yacht-building and repairing. As it was, my father went into electronics research.
