I never understood why people like candles. They are expensive, smoky, smelly, burn your fingers lighting them, more heat than light, and not much heat. So what's it about?
Jewels, you're referring to candles that were made in the 1800s. Nowadays there are also cheap, smokeless, unscented candles. I don't know who is burning fingers off when lighting a candle, either. ~
I worked my way through college by waiting tables at banquets. They almost always use little candles in jars, and even if they have long-tipped barbecue lighters, there is some tendency to burn fingers. Sometimes the decorator puts something in the jar to look artsy craftsy. One time it was pinto beans. OMG, you would not believe how badly those stink when they are burned!
