    There are folks who are doing badly through no fault of their own - the elderly, children and disabled.  I believe we have a moral obligation to help them.

    I don't have an obligation to help them but if they're doing bad because they're hungry and homeless, I would help them. Even if they were being rude and obnoxious but needed help, I would still help them.
