Discussion»Questions»Life and Society» If you don't like guns or knives or pepper spray or tazers would a good sized screwdriver make a decent self-defense weapon?
Ask yourself, do you dislike being attacked just a bit more than you dislike pepper spray? Nearly anything can become a weapon, used properly. You should be aware of the chances of your weapon being turned against you. If you ask me, a screwdriver beats nothing, but not by much.
Insect repellent in a pressure pack. Ever get that stuff in your eyes? WORSE than pepper spray.
A big screwdriver is unwieldy, a little one is better - but unless you have a LOT of weight and muscle to put behind it, it won't be terribly effective.

Nope. It would be a lot more brutal, a lot more harder to use, and way more dangerous to yourself if tried using that as a substitute. Guns, tazers and pepper spray are very common because they're very easy to use and very effective. Knifes are only good at close range. I would rather use a sword or a bat to have a bit of distance.
Ann icepick would be a lot better, Screwdrivers usually get their tip filed blunt at the factory- That makes it quite difficult to make them penetrate muscle tissue.
