When I did live alone, my eating habits were less than healthy, and while I won't really say I didn't care, it was more just a circumstance of where I was in life at that time. My wife is a great cook, loves to cook, and has a naturally-embedded nurturing gene, so now that I'm married, I hardly have to give it a second thought. ~
I maintain a healthy diet -veggies, fruit, grains -not much red meat, hardly any junk food/sweet stuff. I learned how to use spices to make everything tasty.
Y'all need to find the scratch 'n dent store in your area. You can find some remarkable gourmet stuff at bargain prices. I often catch myself thinking "Wow! What can I eat to make room for this in the freezer?" I finally just had to quit going until I eat some of what I already have.
