We usually leave the tip in cash.

Cash since that way the server is guaranteed to receive it.  Servers don't always see their tip if it is put on credit due to some shady practices by managers and/or owners.

you are so right......one of our local restaurants makes their servers wait TWO WEEKS for tips put on a card........when I asked why, she said she figures they're earning interest on it before they give it to the server; this from a server.......typical management BS...

So now I always leave cash; in fact, i NEVER leave it on the table, I had it to them as I'm leaving..........you know they have to appreciate that!!!

That's great Ben.  Some of the sleaziest bosses own restaurants.  It's a tough business.

I always total the card receipt anyway so I just add the tip there.  That way, whoever is supposed to get it probably will.

Had to change when I ran low on cash in USA. Blessed virus means they all want card payments (when they are open).

I usually pay for everything with cash.  And this is true of my husband as well.  But I don't see what would be wrong with the other options either.

I try not to use credit cards anywhere that I can't keep my eye on the card the whole time. So, I pay the entire bill and the tip in cash.
