Nothing to rationalize.  It happens and always has even in Biblical times - all we have to do is look at life.  Married men have "cheated" with me sometimes just as, when I worked as an escort, they paid me to be with them.  Those are the facts of life whether we are Godless or believe in God.

Because "thou shalt not commit adultery" is not a direct commandment that must be obeyed it is just an advisory sort of thing that people should keep in mind to try to preserve their good character -if that matters. This post was edited by Kittigate at March 25, 2018 2:59 PM MDT

Please don't get mad at me, I mean no disrespect - but ... an advisory? In the same way, thou shall not kill? Personally I don't judge in that way but I really don't think it was ever intended as an advisory.

Eg.. Thou shouldn't kill because funerals are expensive and can cause a lot of grief to friends and family as well as take up a lot of valuable police time.

Where did you find that at? (that adultery is not a sin) Actually all comandments are meant to be kept.

For Christians adultery is a sin but otherwise it is advisory because can cause marriage break-up and family troubles.

  • The USA rejected God and removed Him from our culture years ago. It may be the preeminent reason that we are in decline. After turning our backs on God's authority, it became easy to reject all other forms of authority and discipline. The nation is moving toward anarchy and chaos. When we became so foolish as to set God out on the curb, with Him went morality, ethics, common sense and sound judgement. It's been the lesson gleaned from nations and empires for thousands of years. And I include the modern church world in this same predicament. They too, are groping blindly without a clue, exhibiting some form of intellectual knowledge of God while denying His supernatural power. While it's not too late to turn it all around, I see no inclination here to return to sobriety, sanity, humane and responsible behavior. We the people are circling the drain and it has nothing to do with whoever sits in the Oval Office. ,

That makes a lot of sense and explains the rise of the entity known as the "Trump supporter" that has installed the current president to accelerate the process of decline.

Under a delusion to call good evil and evil good.
They will say "Did we not do great works in your name" and the Lord God will say depart from me you evil doers. I know you not.

Many are Christians in name only...
The mystery of the kingdom of God has been given to you, (his elect) but to those on the outside, everything is expressed in parables, so that, ‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven.’” This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at March 25, 2018 3:51 PM MDT

Why does one assume that the wheel has just now been invented?  Human beings have been committing negative, immoral and illegal acts for centuries, and heads of state among them. It's not only a head of state with whom you disagree or one you detest. The people you respect are also human, have faults, have sinned. If you want to be fair, call them out too, don't just pretend that they are saints.

I think. and I am not up to getting in a debate about this as I'm still tired from superhuman effort to get my last assignment in... but  I would postulate it's a different thing... not that they are any better or worse than Trump.. just that they didn't stand on family values etc.. That's called being hypocritical no matter who did it.. If I stood up and started spouting stuff about being a family (wo)man valuing family.. then I would expect to get villified if I did things that were the opposite..  It's the sanctimoniousness and lying bar-stewardness that people should be guided by

You're absolutely right, there is no need for debate, especially following that random stream of unconsciousness that you just posted.    Humans are fallible, it's as simple as that. I don't defend or excuse any one person's actions with that statement, nor do I attack or vilify any one person's actions with it. I merely state fact. Ignoring the negative actions of the person you support is just as bad as when your opponent does it.

LOL I see you are the same lovable rogue you always have been... still insulting people, left, right and centre and being entirely unaware of it :P Bless ya it's good to be back. "random stream of unconsciousness" LOL do you have any idea of how much of a contradiction that is? A stream of unconsciousness is one where we are unaware of what we have said and it's meaning.. since I knew exactly what I said and why, and it *was* in perfectly reasonable English..what you said is incorrect isn't it.. LOL no need to thank me for correcting your errors - tis a free service just for you :P
If you look, not that you do, (I make no further comment on that) then you will see nothing I said would contradict the fallibility of that..  The point was while we are, or can be, depending on our morals and ability to control our own actions, fallible - it's one thing to be fallible but quite another to go around sanctimoniously pretending to be virtuous and a defender/supporter of family values when you are a lying, cheating bar-steward.. That's just being a hypocrite.

You insult me and pretend that you don't, so why do you assume you can't be treated the same way you treat others?

The difference is.. I don't insult you - I am careful to avoid it. Cite you called my words blah, blah unconsciousness. There was a strong implied insult there.. strong one.. Whereas I avoided insulting you.. I always do. Interestingly then, I can only think that this boils down to some subtle difference in the understanding and use of English betwixt our two lands. I have often thought this.... and this fits with that..  So,  I am assuming that you do not consider, "there is no need for debate, especially following that random stream of unconsciousness that you just posted." an insult? Even though there is a heavily implied and very thinly veiled slur and casting of aspersion on my words and the nature of same? That is not an insult? This surprises me cos here anyone can see it is definitely an implied slur, an insulting one..  Compared with my offering, "If you look, not that you do, (I make no further comment on that)" then I clearly avoided making further comment, had I done so then it's highly likely that that WOULD have been an implied slur of a similar nature to your own.. But I avoided it...  So the contrast is . I said you don't look, which I have observed factually to be the case.. though in truth it may be you look but subtle differences in the use of language make it hard for you to see?
Anyway... this is all fascinating pedantics.. I do enjoy these discussions, I am fascinated to understand why Americans can use language that's clearly of an insulting nature but fail to see it as such.. perhaps such language is so common that it's lost meaning there? I can only guess...
Bedtime for me.. I am sure you and I will cross linguistic swords again soon x

They can't explain it.. so they fuzz over it.. pretend it doesn't happen, excuse it, ignore it, condone it... cos let's face it truth, honour and honesty really don't matter - does it.. the words hypocrites seem to spring to mind

  • I can't rationalize being generalized.  I believe in God.  I do not care for Trump.
