He might be feeling a little shame this morning - ashamed that a bunch of kids brought more people together then he did when he was sworn in. Not sure what he is going to do about students having to be afraid for their lifes when in class but I think I know what he won't do - the next time he meets with the students he won't let the cameras see his "I hear you" note. They are responsible for their own anxiety disorders.
What I will do about it, is tell them to stop being so pathetic and calm down. They are more likely to die in a traffic accident on the way to school, than by gun violence.
Generation snowflake needs to toughen up.

One can take reasonable precautions that lessen the probability that one might be involved in a traffic accident.
An individual student required to be present at school by state law is subject to the randomness imposed on them by a mass murderer---not much they can do to take precautions against mass shootings.
Let's keep comparisons limited to proportionate examples.
And speaking of anxiety disorders, do you think that the NRA and its members and like minded individuals might be more reasonable if they didn't have such anxiety about their assault weapons being limited?
Perhaps such other "snowflakes" should toughen up also.
Precautions are irrelevant.The risk of traffic accidents still exists, even when precautions are taken, and that risk is still far higher than the risk of gun violence.
Nice try turning it all around. Paranoia about the erosion of basic freedoms is fully justified. A threat to one right is a threat to all rights. Losing rights doesn't RISK tyranny it GUARANTEES tyranny sooner or later.
I am afraid the gun lovers will defend and try to point the blame elsewhere... kids shouldn't be facing those dilemmas.. it's wrong.. there are enough pressures on kids as it is without having to worry about whether they will be killed in school. There's also a big difference between getting killed by traffic... as a parent you can try to mitigate and keep them safe... you can teach them how to cross the road safely... you can't really do much if some disgruntled nutter decides to shoot your kid and a bunch of others.
I think a big difference here too is... that it isn't like with traffic deaths that it's one or the other... shootings are in addition.. really just making more danger that doesn't need to be added.

Hi sweetie. I listened to many of the speakers...all of whom were 18 or under. And they all asked the same question in different ways. Why is it up to THEM to speak out? Where are the adults who are supposed to protect them and make schools safe? I mean no one can answer that question. It's a really sad state of affairs. Deplorable. The fact that any human being prizes guns over children's lives is unthinkable but it is what they live with every day. It shouldn't be that way. Some kids have lived in neighborhoods their entire lives hearing gunshots. But the evil of gun-related deaths invading schools or churches? That is horrendous. SIGH. I don't know if all of this energy and effort will effect much change now. Here's the good thing. There are millions of young folks who will be voting. This is NOT a political issue. It is a human rights common sense issue and these kids are very sensible. Fingers crossed. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday to thee Addb!! :)
Thank you for your reply BR. Here's an idea which is partly sarcastic and party deadly serious. Arm all the kids. Why put the burden on the teacher alone? Let all the kids carry loaded weapons Many kids can shoot well. They grow up in gun families and I guess get their own guns at a young age. If everyone is armed that's better than having just the teacher armed because of course that is the first person a shooter would target. If everyone in the classroom carried loaded guns the shooter would have a tougher time. Just a thought. Happy Monday! :)
