My dad had a huge American /Austrilian GMC station wagon.....it had a two way opening tailgate with electric back window....I use to sit in the rear with my older sister and get up to all sorts of mischief entertaining other road users....The huge Artic lorry drivers were the most fun..... Big Riggs to you lot over there.....lol
I liked to sit in the back seat behind the driver, my mother. She always told me not to hang my hand out of the window because I could get my hand cut off if something hit it. I so loved to put my hand outside and do the airplane thing up and down (I know you know what I'm talking about). However, being the smart person that I am, I knew I was living on the edge and decided I would rather lose my left hand than my right since I favor my right one. The desire to play the airplane game was stronger than the fear of losing my limb. I'm still here with both hands.
Wherever I could squeeze in with my three brothers(at the time, I have five now). My sister sat on Mum's lap while Dad drove, it was legal back then. Dad got the Kombi two years later.
