So I was strolling along the bank of the Agua Fria river (AZ) when I noticed a snake blocking my path. You know how river banks tend to be: there was limited space that could be called "path". But there was space for a snake to wiggle away, so all I needed was to motivate the snake to get lost.
I recalled a tv show I had seen where a rattlesnake was sneaking up on a mouse: the mouse turned his back on the snake and began digging furiously, throwing the dirt on the snake. Well, snakes don't like dirt to be thrown on them, so the snake went away and the mouse got to live a while longer.
So that's what I did: I picked up some dirt on the toe of my shoe and flicked it onto the snake. The snake didn't like getting flicked, so he got lost.
Started to notice that one of my parents was drinking wine - - a LOT. And things in the family went a little goofy for many years.
