The new tax law just went into effect in January.  Your refund was for 2017.

I never faulted anyone. I said my refund was less.  Since I do our taxes online (1040) I'm well versed in the tax laws...  I also assist many family members in same. This post was edited by Beans/SilentGeneration at April 15, 2018 3:54 PM MDT

Not so much rich and privileged as privileged AND rich. The rest of his people he is maintaining their privilege just not making them rich. The Elite is a closed society. This post was edited by O-uknow at April 15, 2018 11:43 AM MDT

To be honest ELement NONE of ours do that.. they aren't allowed, they are held accountable, they are scrutinised, freedom of information and all that.. they cannot abuse their position in order to help themselves or their own, they can't even now, employ their family - all because they have to be accountable and they are charged with acting in the best interests of the country and it's populace. For sure there are some parties more connected with supporting the rich, but they DO have to still take account of the poorer people, again accountable.

An illustrative example... a leader of a party recently was thrown out because his girlfriend expressed racist views.. might seem harsh but it shows that we are pretty demanding when it comes to those who are supposedly representing us.. in this particular case he wasn't even the leader of a party that would ever get voted into government but people here expect their leaders to be honest and accountable - they might still do things we hate and which we don't agree with but they aren't going to get away with lying and being selfish pocket lining nepotists.

If taxes don't come from corporations they must come from you. If from no one then they must print and borrow. Spending is up not down.

geez - - if it's bad, it's because of someone one doesn't/didn't support
if it's good, it's because of someone one supported/supports

but in this case, yes, if it's bad, I'd blame it on Trump, yes; thanks DJT; I don't like the guy -- the guy is incredibly childish and whiny --  and, yes, it takes one to know one.
    :)

And I have no idea what I'm talking about (other than I can be childish and whiny) - - all the political stuff around here, I'm a dimwit - - all I know is that President Trump does not behave nor speak nor use words I think I president should use.
Ah, yeah - - but wait - - but that's why he's so GREAT! He tells it like it is! He's not one of those usual politicians!

(That's all I hear around me in the area in which I live.)

(I'm sorry about your taxes this year, Element 99)

The new tax law went into effect in Jan. 2018.  All of this griping can be directed toward Obama.  People are talking about 2017 tax returns which are due Monday.  They don't even seem to know.

Thanks, Thriftymaid -- I surely don't know what kind of mood I was in when I wrote my answer but I obviously wasn't even thinking of the specifics of the years and the new tax laws. I look at my answer now and it doesn't even relate to the question. I regret the answer but I won't delete it. It's a good reminder to keep my head when posting stuff.

It was merely chump change...but it made a great question with lots of fun answers. We found out who the trump supporters are.  They will soon feel a portion of their buttocks bitten off soon enough.

Hey, thanks, Element 99! Gosh -- reading my answer a day later makes how I feel about my answer even worse! Ha! Talk about going WAY off topic!
