I can think of several wars fought over the issue of how the Bible should be interpreted.

In "The Wizard Of Oz" by L. Frank Baum there is a race of people with one foot. They went to war with another race because one of them said they had less understanding. It eventually came to court and the offending guy was asked to explain his remark. He said it was a reference to the single foot. When he said less understanding he meant less stand-undering.

Well, beginning in 1952, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) actually went to war with West Pakistan (now [simply] Pakistan) over the right to continue to speak and keep the country's national language as Bangla/Bengali as opposed to Urdu.  To my knowledge, it's the only such war fought over a language and/or writing system.

The Shaheed Minar monument in Dhaka, Bangladesh commemorates the lives lost during the Bengali Language Movement prior to Bangladeshi independence.

When people started compiling digital fonts for all the languages, they ran smack into politics. Many countries demand a separate font just because they don't like another country that uses the same alphabet.
