When you lose your motivation to do something, what is the best way to get it back?

Introspection, I reckon; challenging but perhaps therefore the mark of wisdom.

By definition, motivation can't be forced: as with many things, if not all, the central question is "why; where did this [e.g. lack of will] come from?" (and that is one sole question).

EDIT: Also, those friggin' nineties, man... This post was edited by Danilo_G at April 18, 2018 3:30 PM MDT

Take a 3 day break to allow time for your "batteries" to recharge. (Seriously)

It may not be "lost;" it may just be taking a "break." This post was edited by tom jackson at April 19, 2018 4:21 AM MDT

Try figure out why you lost your motivation;  too much stress involved,  not seeming to go anywhere in what you are trying to accomplish, not a favorable environment,  etc...

I don't try to get it back. Too much work.

I think Danilo_G's answer has what would work for me, I'd hope - - other than Robbie Williams coming on over to my house to offer me some encouragement.
    :)
