If you could - would you turn back time?

When people look at their own pictures from earlier times, from their youth, they take a long breath and say: I wish I could be young again, I wish I could go back in time.
Are you among those? What are some reasons for this wish? I think when we made some mistakes, we would make similar or totally other ones in that second chapter.

I learned my lesson NOT to wish for traveling back in time from Ray Bradbury's short story "A Sound of Thunder."

  • I am not a movie fan, I also never had time to watch. But I believe your statement/opinion about the movie, the title alone scares me....Thanks, Welby.

I don't know if they made a movie of it or not but this was a short story - - and, yes, it creeped me out. One of those creepy endings. And a creepy title, too, you're right.
    :)
    And, you're welcome, Whitehair!

Aww I love those cute little pictures of me and my little sister going on pretend adventures in our yard. I miss those days when we had the ability to imagine some exciting scenarios in such a mundane setting and my mother had fun just watching us playing and talking in our little pretend voices.

  • Thank you! Isn't it nice that our memories can turn back time in special or still moments, when we daydream or recall special events? Facit: Our mind can look back when our brain functions well, we do not need our physical bodies to change.... boy, what a nightmare. I think most of us do sometimes. (Except youngsters) I try to hold on to the things I can still do and devote myself to taking care of my wife. It ain't about me anymore.

  • Lovely, E99, others are connected to our present life are the center of caring, That seems to be an important point in not wanting to change back age, according to the answers so far. Thank you !!!

I wouldn't want to go back and live through all crap again for all the gold in Fort Knox.  I'm retired now and own my home.  No one can tell me to leave or what to do.  This is living.  This is more like it!

  • "No thanks."  I've already made it through all of those problems.  If I went back, there would be nothing to do!

  • Well - Alf - maybe you would see problems from a different angle or perspective. It would be nice to go back with the experiences we gained in the meantime!!

  • O.K. We drive together - but leave all the maps and directions at home. Maybe there is turn somewhere which has a name tag: Alternative Reality.,,

I'm trying to figure out what happened to the horses. They are not there when the camera pans out.

  • The horses leave the screen at 1:08 and the panning doesn't drop back down below the road that the car was on until 1:34 (26 sec.)

Horses move from in front of the car to off screen from 1:00 to 1:08 (8 sec.) and have 18 more seconds to keep moving behind a green screen.

There is also what very well may be a film edit at 1:10.  You can see the Cadillac drift, in screen, to the left then right before it actually moves by it's own power.

Although I've been exposed to some movie and commercial making, I'd rather not know the magic that goes on behind the scenes.  So none of this will probably be very useful ... sorry.

To have more time with loved ones, yes. To do things better or differently, not really.

However,  I've learned not to take for granted that anyone will be here tomorrow. And I know that sometimes wonderful things come from tragedies and mistakes.

I would rather eat lint than relive any part of my life!

Some dingbat called to tell me about the fifty year high school reunion. I refused to participate because there was nothing I wanted to remember.
