Seated on the bus during rush hour, people were standing and beside me a guy's fly was undone; how should I have pointed that out to him?

At least he was wearing underwear. So "HEY YOUR FLY IS DOWN!" Would be discreet enough?

Back in the 1970s when Dick Cavett had his late-night talk show on ABC opposite Johnny and Merv, he once had a famous male guest (no longer recall who) who unwittingly came out on-stage with his fly open. Cavett instructed the guest to stand beside him, then for them both to turn around with their backs to the audience and cameras. Then Cavett said, "One of us has his fly open," and the abashed guest fixed his pants zipper, and both men walked back to their respective seats. Does anyone else remember this episode, and who the famous guest was? A major movie star, I'm pretty sure.
