I may not agree with President Trump most of the time but, based upon a suggestion in "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" book, I've tried to be open to learn from those with whom I may disagree on certain things. To listen first. Insults tend not to get anyone anywhere, though I try to respect people's strong beliefs either way -- and, I admit, sometimes insults, even from 'sides' with whom I disagree, can be funny.
Trying to learn others' viewpoints sounds so basic but I think people in arguments (political, especially) could benefit from trying this.
I don't mean to sound like a goody-two-shoes.
