That is not fair. I know how you feel, they tax heavily here for elementary school period, and the schools around here are really bad. I wonder where the money is REALLY going. hmmmmmmm. ;(
Georgia had a lottery for education. Alabama didn't want gambling in the state but people loved how Georgia was raising money for education. Eventually we got to vote for a lottery "crafted just like Georgia's." Well, education was but a suggestion with the allocation of lottery revenue being left to the discretion of the Alabama Legislature. Not just no, hell no. Governor eventually went to prison like so many of them do. I don't even know what finally got him.

Ours here have remained fairly steady since I have bee in my present home. (13 years.) Most of our levies have been renewals. We finally got a school levy to pass, for what little good it did. There has been no improvement in our schools and new teachers are staying away in droves.
Mine went up slightly even though our values have increased nicely. My state does not raise annual assessment value over a certain percentage based on the assessment when you bought your home. That's a nice detail in their revenue tax code.

They keep going up in proportion to the assessed value. We were lucky to have bought a second home here five years ago near the bottom of the market.
