First of all, the "government" as a monolithic entity is inanimate, thus making it impossible for it to "care" about anything as a person might. Second, why is it the role of government to be concerned with the prosperity of any individual as opposed to that of any other individual? Each of us is responsible for ourselves and our families.
Don't get me wrong, I am no fan of government here... but I sorta think they do want me and most others to be prosperous, mainly because it means the economy is going well and because they have to pay fewer benefits... but that's the government here .
Right. And everything you buy is taxed at every stage from purchasing raw materials to production to wholesale and the retail sale. By the time it gets down to you and me half of what we pay is due to the passing on of accumulated tax expenses.
Why should the government care about your prosperity? They care that Americans have opportunities. It's up to you to grab opportunities. That is how one becomes what you call prosperous.
The only purpose of a government is to prevent any other group from taking control. The duty of a citizen is to control his government. That is why governments always eventually treat citizens as enemies of the state.
