Do you mind being in a relationship with someone who doesn't speak the same language as you?

In other words, either you have to learn your partner's language or vice versa?

    It isn't likely that I would find myself in a serious relationship with someone with whom I couldn't communicate verbally.

      I would mind, yes. This reminds me of a man in my platoon who married a Japanese woman: he didn't speak Japanese and she didn't speak English. I haven't thought about them in decades, I wonder if they're still together.
