A Conservative is SHOCKED to learn that a Progressive Liberal can have some CONSERVATIVE views. Can a Conservative have LIBERAL views?

Think Romney and Christy, Graham, McCain etc. 

  Aren't you the one who often purports that all people of certain groups or subgroups always do the exact same things or always think the exact same way?  Oh, yes, you are! Such as when you write about people who voted for Trump, or Republicans, or members of the NRA, etc., etc., etc.!   In fact, hardly a days goes by without us being subjected to your views on this website wherein you employ that very one-track mindset.
  So to answer your pretend question, it sure would be surprising to see certain people espouse more broad-minded thinking than they currently do, and you fall into that category like a parachutist leaping from an airplane. 

Between classical liberals (real liberals) and conservatives, there is certainly a spectrum of opinion.

The trouble is that so called liberals in the U.S. aren't really liberals. They're socialists. There is no middle ground between socialism and conversatism. They are fundamentally different philosophies and mixing the two is just Orwellian double think.

Glad you now realize that it is possible. Also please note that certain points of view we now label as "liberal" or "conservative" were not always the same. I am interested in the environment and conservation which when I was growing up was considered a "conservative" thing.  But now is regarded as "liberal".  When I was a liberal my views were just the same as they are now.  Then liberals got so far out that all that I believed in became "conservative" so I went from one to the other with no change at all!

Most of the people I know have some liberal views and some conservative views including me.  The two exceptions are my Uncle Bob who's all conservative and my cousin Jenny who's all liberal.  (Also, I'm pretty sure my Uncle Bob isn't the same one who posts here sometimes just to clear that up.)  

Anyway, Uncle Bob and Jenny are the ones that just don't make any sense to me politically.  When they both talk about politics they use words from the English language but it's like they're not speaking English.

It seems to be people in the news media who don't get how people can have some liberal views and some conservative views because I've heard hosts on both NPR and VCY both imply they don't understand how people can be that way.

I think people in the news media must come from some alternate universe.
