It's a huge step backwards, when a woman gets pregnant both are to blame, assuming she wasn't raped and didn't rape him.. to blame the woman is wrong, just plain wrong and it sets rights for women back decades if not a hundred years

Women have historically been scapegoats. They are less important less valuable less worthy and easy targets. They are usually physically weaker. So the woman gets blamed for enticing the man and he gets off scot free. Of course they are both equally to blame assuming it is consensual but she is the one with the target on her back. It is still that way. Will it always be that way? I dunno. I won't always be here. Thank you for your reply Addb! :)

Normally, it is the doctor performing the abortion who would be punished.

In an interview while campaigning trump said women who get abortions should be punished. He said nothing at all about the man who gets them pregnant. He got so much flak for that he walked it back. He always wimps out when he is called out on something. But every punishment is directed toward women because we are second class second rate weaker and because we take it. Women are still scapegoats.  Women will always be scapegoat just like people of color. White rich old men rule the world and always will.  The older and fatter and richer and whiter the better. SIGH. Ah for a world that operated fairly and honestly and honorably. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday to thee m2c.

And right after the interview he corrected himself and said it would be the doctor who would be punished.

If abortion were to be illegal....it would be the doctor whom would be charged with performing an illegal service and killing a baby. (perhaps murder depending on how the law were to be written)

The point tho is it should not be illegal.. I know there is an emotive/religious argument but the reality is that women will suffer if it were made illegal.. and deaths, both mother and baby will result.. now that's a really senseless waste of life not to mention ruined lives.. Most often they are not killing a baby, they are killing a bunch of cells that has no capability of life.. but my worry is how it will put women's power over their own lives and bodies back centuries.  My fear is people are all to willing to judge women, and say they MUST keep a baby but they have NO idea of what it's like, how hard the decision is even with it being legal, of how much they and ultimately their child will suffer, perhaps only to die later.. It's inhumane... and it totally fails to respect people :(

No they are killing a living child in the womb. Not some lump of cells. Prememies as little as 22 weeks have survived.
The choice is birth control or not.

Rape is different but still should have a very short window for abortion. Life of the Mother is simple carry the term as far as safely possible and then deliver the baby with intent to save rather than intent to kill.

Let's be realistic here. The woman makes the decision. It's her body, it's her choice. A man can get her pregnant, but that's about where his say in the matter largely stops. If it was a punishable offense, the only way the man could get in trouble would be if he coerced her.  Moreover, a woman is not an incubator. Your argument might fly if a man could insist upon a woman carrying a baby to term if the father wanted her to keep the baby. He doesn't have that power, and rightfully so.

Mind you, I'm pro-life, but I support a woman's right to choose. I find the notion that women should be punished abhorrent as well.
