They're all auto racing. What's the difference?

  • The question asked about Formula One drivers.  I'm not sure what the differences are between F1 and Indy cars are, but Patrick seems to think there is.  Track layouts ... more than likely.

The cars are very different. Indy cars are open wheelers, F1s are more like guided missiles. Less clearance and quite a lot faster.

I don't know much about F1, but Australian touring car race driver Christine Gibson made herself infamous by locking her Nissan up with Bob Morris' Holden and spraying both cars all over the track at Mt Panorama in 1981, completely blocking the road at its narrowest. It's the only time in the history of the Bathurst 1000 that the winner didn't take the checkered flag, the whole circuit was red-flagged and the leader at the time, Dick Johnson, was awarded the win.
