Wait... doesn't one usually take their wife with them when they view a house?

  • Of course not!  She's never used one anyway.

This is the same girl as in Alf's dishwasher picture.  Why are y'all bothering her?

"Bothering" her?  We just try explaining things to her.  (It's tough getting anything through all that blond hair.)

No.  If it had one, I'd feel like I was living Uptown!

I've had one since my middle child was a baby and was ill and had to go to hospital.. my son's father at the time detested washing up/doing the dishes so he sneaked off and bought a dishwasher.. and I've had one ever since - it's lasted and lasted.. If it were to break I wouldn't replace it as I quite like washing dishes - I've even done it for a living :)

    I've got one
    I never use it
    so it would be cool
if no dishwasher in new house...
    ...That said
    I live by myself...no family.
If I had a big family
probably would have to get one,
But if the House is cool...no problem.

The bad part of never using it is that the rubber dries out and should you decide to use it, it might spring a leak or two.  Like you, I live alone, no family so I don't need one either.  Plus, I think a dishwasher ruins my paper plates.

Believe me, it's even worse with used toilet paper.  The way the dishwasher tears it to pieces, I barely have enough left to hang a decent amount of it on the clothesline in my front yard. What must the neighbors be thinking; that I don't use toilet paper at all?  Ewww.

And tissues  You can hardly blow your nose in them after the dishwasher has made lint of them.

I'd just hire one. Lots of illegals around. Maybe a hot Ukrainian.

No dishwasher in its kitchen would not be a deal-breaker to us...

When I was growing up, I don't remember EVER having a dishwasher, or one that worked, except for mom after dinner.  We all did certain things out of habit.  Some people call them chores.  I call it living together and contributing to a clean and healthy environment.  After I moved out, I seemed to adopt the same habit of doing the dishes after dinner.  We both liked it because we both have cold hands a good amount of time.  Doing the dishes warms your hands and keeps a clean kitchen.  It was a win/win situation.  We both have dishwashers now but rarely use them.  We do when we have company. :) :)

No, it wouldn't be a deal breaker.  You can probably have one installed if you really want it.  I would prefer the extra cabinet and counter space if the kitchen is not large.

  • Maybe. Depends on how badly I wanted the house. I wouldn't be opposed to putting one in, but I also wouldn't be too happy about a house with a project I needed to do.

I bought a full-size portable hat I rolled up to the sink many years ago when I rented a house without one.  You can still buy them.
