We didn't need to. They liked veggies, and so do the grandkids.

I didn't have to with my kids, but I do have a trick that works.
Finely chop broccoli and carrots and put in tomato sauce for lasagna, spaghetti, etc. I don't really do it to be sneaky, I do it because I think it's delicious. My veggie-hating family members were shocked when I told them why my sauce is so good. :)

Ever tried substituting spinach or silverbeet for lasagna sheets?

No, but I have done a white lasagna with spinach. I use pasta with extra protein because I'm vegetarian.

Pumpkin was something my kids hated, so I pullled a stunt my parents used on my siblings and I when we were little - orange potatoes. Mix sweet potato in with the regular mash, then when the kids are used  to the colour, switch it.
Other vegies were never a problem.

My son would throw up sweet potatoes since the first time he ate them as a baby.

My children would eat pasta sauce and macaroni/cheese regardless what I added to it.  I, of course, never added anything gross. This post was edited by Thriftymaid at September 8, 2018 1:35 PM MDT

      Did you add vegetables (surreptitiously)?
