While I think it silly to claim any one of either is more inherently cruel than one of the other, there is little question more evil has been inflicted in the name of “God” than by those who don’t observe any gods.

Why do you think it is silly DB? Please explain it to me. Unless you think they are exactly the same which is unlikely. I think it's a valid question or I wouldn't ask it. Is valid ever silly? Methinks not and have you hever that "there are no silly questions"? All religious folks believe GOD IS ON THEIR SIDE. It comforts them when they go to do battle to murder or kill or hobble or cripple or destroy or betray in any way. GOD IS ON THEIR SIDE in all things big and small. "His eye is on the sparrow" remember? Oh. You wouldn't know about that. In any case are politicians more prone to lying than people who spend their entire lives helping others? Would you say super don tells more lies than say Gandhi? I have no way of KNOWING of course but my guess is super don is tops. What you believe shapes whom you are and what you do and say. If religious people really believe their GOD didn't approve of super don wouldn't they abandon the big bad boy? But somehow they have convinced themselves (Evangelicals especially) that his push to get extreme right-wing judges on all benches (especially SCOTUS who will overturn Roe v Wade) is worth supporting him. That is for them the only thing that matters. Because they do not believe in murdering a fetus. But they have no problem with a super don who is indirectly helpful when it comes to people dying in places like Puerto Rico or children being kept in cages and kennels. They don't mind that at all. They are super tough on letting a fetus live but once a child is born they move on and lose interest. In fact I'm gonna ask that question. Thank you for your reply. Why do you answer silly questions?

I think it’s silly because no one ideology speaks for everyone, even within a particular denomination. Think for a minute how many believers there are, and how small a percentage of them commit definable cruelties, or are generally mean. Does this percentage remain consistent among non-believers? Hard to say. You’d have to interview/get to know literally everyone on either side to speak with any certainty. Otherwise, making such a claim is silly.
On a related note, as an unabashed atheist myself, I would offer this quote from Robert G Ingersoll: ”If a man would follow, today, the teachings of the Old Testament he would be a criminal. If he followed the teachings of the New, he would be insane.” This echoes my feelings on the matter.
I think it's all down to personal attitude not belief. I'd say more recently ideas of social organisation kills people ie communism, totalitarianism, capitalism, socialism, etc. When you have a social order where you have a small number of elites at the top of the pyramid, and the main bulk of society down at the bottom then it is going to be them who are the slave class because they are the labourers. Economy is a shambles, the banks control the money supply, and this controls how much work the labourers have to do, which is for most of their lives, it doesn't have to be this way, but we some how think that this is the only way. Banks print money out of thin air, when they don't print enough then health care and education get cut, when they print more the future generations have to work all their lives to pay that debt off, we can never beat the debt system because the ceiling is always too high, they could just right all debt off since they make money out of thin air, but they wouldn't do that because they wouldn't have any worker slaves. We live in a debt and discharge system that is the biggest killer, our ancestors gold and silver disappeared along time ago into the greedy bankers vaults, and now all we have is paper IOU.
