Now it is Germany that is considering a ban on face veils. I can understand their purpose in their country. It is their tradition. But elsewhere? Why?

What is the religious significance of wearing a veil?  Are Muslim women who don't  wear the veil evil and disrespectful? Why would any religion impose its dogma requirements on a foreign country? Can someone explain it to me please?

It is an assumption CLURT. "Wishful thinking"?  That is quite odd and would you explain what you mean by that? It is out of place in my opinion and irrelevant to the subject matter. I am not a Muslim woman. I do not need to be hidden from the view of men for any reason. When I was younger I had my share of admirers. I am past that stage. As for judgmental yes it is. Having men control how women dress I find to be disgusting. It takes away sovereignty women have over their attire.  I find it dictatorial/insufferable/uncaring/demanding/bullying. Did I answer the part of your question I can? Will you explain your crack about wishful thinking to a 78-year-old American woman who knows nothing about the details of being a Muslim woman but knows everything about being a woman and enjoying my right to dress as I choose. I believe EVERY WOMAN should have that right. You clearly do not. I'm  waiting.

1- Rosie, you said, "I'm  waiting." You HAVE been, indeed. My apologies for that. I've only just seen your comments. I wonder whether that waiting has allowed you to rethink what you posted.

2- For example what evidence do you have for your allegation that I "clearly do not...believe EVERY WOMAN should have that right" to dress as she chooses?

3- What's your evidence that the way Muslim women dress is the result of "Having [dictatorial/insufferable/uncaring/demanding/bullying] men control how women dress"?

4- I admire your admission that you’re an “American woman who knows nothing about the details of being a Muslim woman” but don’t understand why you made the allegations against Muslims.

5- Again with the above admission in mind how could you say that you’re a woman who “knows everything about being a woman”? Perhaps you meant to say that you’re a woman who “knows everything about being the woman that I am”
