I am going to play devil's advocate on this one.. no, most people wouldn't invite that.. mainly because it can paint us in an unfavourable light.. This is where the devil's advocate bit comes in.. here in Britland we have had a fair bit of debate around whether the victim's sexual history and current activity should be considered as part of the evidence. My opinion is no... because it wouldn't matter if a woman were a prostitute, she should still have the right to say no and should still be protected from rape.
If we are to follow that line then in theory the man's sex life at the time/past isn't relevant either? Or is it? If he had a history of raping that would be relevant? I struggle with this one.. not really sure
Somehow I don't think people selling their bodies are doing so because they like sex. It tends to be because life gave them a bad hand and they never had another option. In other words, I'd wager that the vast majority of them are what you'd call vulnerable, abused, at risk, poor, from broken homes, mentally-ill. They trade sexual services for money (or home, protection, food and the like) and they can accept of reject. They are the victims.
On the other hand, someone who has sex against another's will is the perpetrator of rape.
Fun fact: rapists don't always use 'rape' to describe what they do, even when they know fully well the wrong that is involved, or that the victim could never have had any say no matter what.
Your cult of the victim ignores the fact the many of us have and do choose to work as an escort because we DO like sex and are good with it. Contrary to what you may like to think we are not all "poor", "abused", from "broken" homes, "mentally ill" etc. .
Not fun fact: one of the jurors at my rape trial told the press that my rapist was only "trying to give me a good time".
Thank you for your thoughtful reply Addb. If you're innocent why would you fear the truth? Hopefully that would be the goal of any investigation. I know that guilty people walk and innocent people are incarcerated. I wonder how often that injustice occurs? I'm gonna ask.
What would be the second thing you'd do DB? Would you just be a docile client and follow his/her advice or would you insist demand request investigations to PROVE your innocence? Thank you for your reply! :)
