    Nope.

Consider how copulation is controlled by religions - the goal is lots of babies.
The rules of copulation for Orthodox Jews:
You may only copulate with your wife, but only in the two weeks when she is most fertile.
Those who practice it have told me it kept them enthusiastic about sex long after most couples have become bored with each other.
You must devote the Sabbath to your wife and family - no work is permitted on the Sabbath.
If you work at a distance from home, you must return home to mate when your wife demands it.
You have not done your duty to God until you have had at least one boy and one girl.
This can lead to families with 12 or more girls and one youngest boy or vice versa.
Religious attempts to control copulation tend to lead to more children, not less.
Consider the world's populations of Catholics and Muslims.

Now consider what happens with population control.
It permits the use of abortion for unwanted pregnancies and the use of all forms of contraception.
If a government wants more population control it makes contraception and vasectomies free.
If the country is affluent and most of the people have access to medicine and education, within twenty years the birth rate drops to between 2.5 and 1.8 children per woman.
Or consider China's 1979 one-child policy. Provincial governments required the use of contraception, sterilizations and abortions to ensure compliance and imposed enormous fines for violations. Despite being modified in the 1980's so rural people could have a second child if the first was a girl, Whyte, Martin K.; Wang, Feng; Cai, Yong (2015) estimated that  5 million births were prevented.

What is UP with that Nome de Plume character?  I mean do we need a dissertation when succinctness is so much more compassionate.

Why weary the eyes and mind when I can put it in the nut shell?

Ok:   In 125 words or less, here is the answer:

    No.

Endorsing control of fking, (I said succinct) has many categories that it umbrellas.  Puritainism, disease control, China (think about it).

While endorsing control of population can also be effective using a number of methods...besides holding off on getting the cookies off, there is mass genocide, there is starvation due to poor government, there is plagues, hurricanes if you live in Puerto Rico especially, there are all kinds of ways to control the population.  Some are criminal, i.e., the mass genocides and Nazi Prison Camps.  Some are God's way of culling the herd.

    Interesting reply.
Since I was 14, I have often wondered whether the human species has an inbuilt mass-self-destruct mechanism.
Perhaps global warming is just another example.

I hope you know I was being a TOTAL DEVIL when I wrote this and I think your answer (as usual) is well-thought out to the point of brilliant.

    I'm being patently ridiculous.

    It's whom I am.

I recognise and enjoy your wild-streak, Sharonna - it's spontaneity and its irreverence.
You express a side of me that is buried deep inside and hasn't the courage to show itself.

Uh, no.  You are more of a diplomat than I deserve.  I have no typing filter.

It is not a gift.  It is something that I need to staunch more than I do.  But, when applied correctly, it is funny.

I just never want to direct it at anyone and have their feelings bruised just for the sake of a joke.

I know you are not thin-skinned and this was so obviously stupid, I think I'm safe in knowing you got the joke.

Thanks.  You rock.   I want to be more genteel.  Like yourself.  You can be genteel and be funny.

To be honest, I can be thin-skinned sometimes. I do have some over-sensitive trigger spots.
But mostly, if someone points out an error, I look at it, decide if I agree, and try to use it to improve.

Hmm. Genteel humour is definitely possible.
Mine tends to be so dry that people often don't get it, but when it does work I get a great buzz watching the other enjoying a laugh.

Since the average size of a doctoral dissertation is between 100 and 200 pages,
I did not take the term "dissertation" seriously,
but you make a valid point anyway.

Brevity always works best in writing. It makes the words more interesting,
and stops the reader's attention from drifting away.

    There's a lot of wisdom in a 125-word answer, either in real life or on the net;
people are more likely to read it,
and if it's a really good answer, brevity makes it more memorable.

But irrespective of my flaws in writing, I love your style, Sharonna, and would miss it if it weren't here.
