    I don’t wish to argue semantics, but the Q asked, “ Have you ever BEEN more than halfway around the world”, not, “...GONE more than halfway....”.
    There is a difference. 

    Consider: 
    If we consult basic geometry, we know the farthest distance between two points on a sphere are the points exactly at the opposite side, halfway around.
