    Not a Trump supporter, but the biggest factor is that the Democratic candidates got more votes than the Republican ones in many races.

    That is just traditionally what happens in the midterms. 

    The Sen had more attention to it.

  • I think millennials were a determining factor, a lot of new voters.  This begins their voting experience.  As they age they will flip flop back and forth just like every generation before them.
